Willie Taylor Bates, age 37, Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, entered eternal life on August 22, 2022, in San Diego California. Willie is survived by his wife, Leslie Bates, and his two beautiful children: Liliana Rae and Stella Jade Bates. He is also survived by his two loving parents: Brenda and Mike Rose of Elizabethtown, KY, and brother Jesse R. Bates from Louisville, KY. He is preceded by death by his Father Milton James Bates, paternal grandparents Jesse T. Bates and AIlona Bates, and maternal grandparents, Rhea Bourne and Barbara Bourne Forsythe. Willie Taylor Bates was born in Logan County, Kentucky on November 22, 1984, and spent his youth growing up in Radcliff and Elizabethtown Kentucky. He graduated from John Hardin Highschool in 2003. Four years later he joined the Navy in July of 2007 embarking on a 15-year journey across the globe. Willie is an active-duty Logistics Specialist, and Chief Petty Officer, in the United States Navy. For his service, he was awarded The Department of The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star - Ninth Award), the Governor of Kentucky’s Colonel Commission, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He served honorably in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and relentlessly proved himself to always be dedicated to the Navy mission’s success. Willie was a superior leader who inspired and mentored countless sailors. Willie wholeheartedly loved and adored his wife and daughters. He enjoyed family life most of all. He effortlessly made sure they were shown, enduring love and appreciation for supporting his naval career. He would share his passion for comic books, and music by teaching them how to play musical instruments, enjoyed attending concerts and encouraged the knowledge of reading all types of literature. His strength of character shows his wife and children his extraordinary personality in the form of humor, attentiveness, and thoughtfulness to make certain he left a mark in their hearts.
