Richard David Guy, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at home in Temecula, California, on February 25, 2024. He was born September 18, 1948, in Erwin, NC. After graduating from Erwin High School, he attended and graduated from Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Seeking growth and a warmer climate, he moved to California during the 1970s.
Richard had an illustrious career in the technology industry, beginning in marketing and sales in the then-burgeoning Silicon Valley in the late 1970s to the mid 1980s. He continued this career trajectory with a move to Wichita, KS in 1985, where he worked successfully for companies such as NCR-CETC, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T. Notably, he was one of the co-founders and original co-owners of Integra Technologies, a globally recognized semiconductor company headquartered in Wichita, KS. In later years, Richard founded and owned Tacit Solutions L.L.C., a small consulting business in California. Always the supportive mentor and advisor, he leaves a foundation of extraordinary knowledge and expertise of which generations of “techies” will be beneficiaries.
An avid historian, Richard loved reading about and having discussions around World War II and presidential history. He was brilliant, and enthusiastically welcomed opportunities to engage with others around such topics. His love for reading and thirst for knowledge continued throughout his life. Richard enjoyed new adventures and shared a love for travel with his wife and daughter, with whom he traveled extensively around the world.
Richard was a loving husband and father and leaves a legacy of strength, kindness, compassion, and love. He is enormously cherished and will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing and loving him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ishmael and Hazel (Evans).
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Sherri; daughter Brandi Scott (Kendrick) of San Antonio, TX; son Brian (Kristie) of Coats, NC; sister Becky Flowers (Harold) of Angier, NC; brother Bill (Nancy) of Bunnlevel, NC; step granddaughter Hunter Rae Joyner (Channing) of Coats, NC; two step great-grandchildren, dear cousin and friend Kathy Blackwelder of NC, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Per Richard’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes in the form of donations to the American Stroke Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
