Marilyn Claire Sibrava was born September 29, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. Her fathers name was William Sibrava and her Mother's name was Claire Sibrava. William worked for a Bank in New York which is where he met Claire who was a Secretary. William was the son of Czechoslovakian immigrants and I believe Claire Immigrated here from Norway as a baby. In April of 1943 her brother William Jr (Billy) was born. William Sr tried to enlist in the Navy during WW II, But because of his age and having young children wasn't accepted. My mother spent her summers as a youth at her Grandparents house on Long Island in St James. There are many pictures of her on horseback as a very young child. In her teens she went to the beaches on Long Island during the Summer as well as Coney Island NY. Marilyn always loved the beach her entire life. During the winters she took advantage of living in New York City going to the Movies, Shows etc. She went to Sunday School her entire Youth all the way up to College. Claire her mother was a devote Christian. She graduated High School in Brooklyn and went to Brooklyn Community College for a couple of years. Around 1960 she met my father Bob Confer. They married in 1961 moved to a farm in upstate New York. In January of 1962, my older Brother Robert was born. My mother took care of the animals on the farm and attended to the house. In September of 1967 I was born. By this time living on the isolated farm was becoming difficult as our nearest Neighbor was miles away and my Brother and I had no one to play with. Around 1970 my Father and Mother split up and divorced. My father never gave her any financial support. We went to go live with her parents who had finally gotten tired of City living and moved to Babylon, on Long Island. My mother was bouncing back and forth between working and trying to find work in New York city and my brother and i on Long Island. Around 1972 her child hood friend Sandra introduced her to Scientology. I can only imagine the pressure my mother was under having two young children and never getting a penny of support from my father. Scientology offered her real life solutions to Mom's problems and got her life back on track. In 1973 Marilyn and Sandra in my mother's new 1973 VW Beetle, packed the car with what they could and set out across county to Los Angeles . My mother secured employment as a secretary at a Los Angeles News Paper, the Herald Examiner. She worked there through the 1970's and attended the Scientology Org in Los Angeles. In 1977 she met Roy while on course at the Org and they where Married in September of 1977. In August of 1978 they had a son, Kevin Doan. Around January of 1979 Roy and Marilyn decided they needed more space and bought their current residence on Hoover St in Los Angeles. In October of 1979 another son was born, Damien Doan. In 1980 Marilyn's parents where tired of the New York winters and moved out to California. They found a house in Imperial Beach in San Diego County. Starting around 1986 when Kevin and Damien where older, Marilyn and the 2 boys started coming down to the beach for the summers. I (Ian) had moved down to San Diego around 1982. For the next 10 years or so my mother and the 2 boys would spend every summer in Imperial Beach and going to the beach every day. . In January of 1989 tragedy struck and my Older Brother Robert took his life, he was 25. My mother spent most of the 1990's taking care of the family and attending the Org in LA. She was working part time doing accounting for our next door Neighbor, Doe. In May of 1994 Marilyn's brother William Jr was killed in the line of duty. He was a Sheriff in New Mexico and the first member of Law Enforcement killed in the line of duty in New Mexico in 100 years. My mother was always very closes to Uncle Bill and the entire family especially her parents took it very hard. In August of 1995 her Father William H Sibrava Sr passed away. In September of 1995 Antoinette and I (Ian) where married . In January of 1996 Marilyn's first Grandchild Kyle William Confer was born. Nette and i lived with my Grandma Claire in Imperial Beach. Kyle and his Granny Claire where very close. In 1998 Antoinette and I divorced. In December of 2001 Marilyn's mother Claire passed away. Kyle began going up to Los Angeles for a month at a time to spend time with Grandma Marilyn. I had a very intense Job (which i still do) and put in many many hours. Kyle and Antoinette moved to Arizona in 2005 and Kyle would come to Los Angeles on vacations to spent time with Grandma and dad. Grandma and Kyle would eat the fish he and i caught fishing off Redondo Beach. Marilyn and Kyle spent alot of time together just talking. In 2010 a decade of hard work finally payed off for me and I was promoted to a Senior Director in the company I worked for. I was able to get Marilyn a job working at home making good money. During this time she was doing her course work from the Org on a home study basis. She continued working for the company until around 2015 when the project was ended. She was 75. In December of 2016 Marilyn's 2nd Grandson ; Ryder was born to Damien and Jesse. In 2017 Mom started having a hard time walking and was bed bound most of the time. She enjoyed watching old movies on the Turner Movie Channel. I moved to Warner Springs in San Diego for work in Oct 2017 . On October 17, 2020 my brothers called paramedics as Marilyn was having a medical emergency. She passed away October 18,2020 from a heart attack. Marilyn enjoyed Gardening and Plants ( her house in LA is the Neighborhood Jungle) She enjoyed animals and had several cats over the years. She Loved the Beach and spent a lot of her youth there. When she was in her youth she use to go fishing with her father and Brother off Montawk Point on Long Island fishing for stripped bass etc. . She always had pet birds and fed the wild birds and squirrels at her house in LA. Marilyn was a very strong person. She was always a source of strength to our entire family. She always backed her children and family. She never intentionally did anything to hurt or cause pain to another human being. She helped others when she could. As I said she was the salt of the earth. Funeral Service 12/14/2020 9:00 AM Valley Cremation Service 21901 Railroad Canyon Dr Lake Elsinore, CA 92532
