Traditional Cremation

The difference between traditional cremation and direct cremation is the timeline from death to cremation. In a traditional cremation, the body is taken from the hospital or morgue to a funeral home. It then has costly body preparations. This includes embalming, dressing, and preparation for a viewing at a celebration of life service. The body is then taken to the crematorium and cremated. The family will later receive the body, as cremated remains.

Direct Cremation

For direct cremations, the body is moved directly to the crematorium where it is cremated. There are no preparations done. We recommend this choice for loved ones that do not want embalming. The ashes are provided to the family. The family can then select a memorial service, a burial in a cemetery, or a private dispersal. The benefit of direct cremation is that you will avoid the costs of body preparations.
